Wind, waves, water and layout
La Boquilla is a long stretch of wide beach, with loads of tourist hotels scattered along it.  You will know you are there when you see the big American Hotel. There are two kite schools next to each other which are very easily spotted due to all the branded flags lined along the beach. The season here is from December to April and the wind generally arrives cross onshore between midday and 3pm and dies off around 6pm caused by a thermal wind.

The strength varies but seems to be between 12 and 18 knots. The water is flat, as it is the Caribbean, so don’t get your hopes up about any wave riding. I had a great two days of riding here on my 11m so plenty of fun to be had.

There are a lot of vendors on the beach and apparently there is some theft here and there, so if you go kiting, ask one of the schools to look after your stuff. They are a great bunch of guys and are very friendly. They mainly speak Spanish though, so if you do not know some basics, you may have trouble getting through.
